Choose how your data is used for ads and analytics

Updated

ColoredEye shows ads from Google and uses Google Analytics for Firebase to learn how the app is used. Where the law requires it, a message from Google asks for your choices first. Which message you see, if any, depends on where Google determines you are, from your internet connection.

In Europe, the UK and Switzerland

The first time you open ColoredEye, a message from Google appears before any ad. It asks whether you agree to your information being used for purposes such as personalized ads, ad measurement and analytics. Choose one:

  • Consent agrees to all of them.
  • Do not consent turns them down. ColoredEye can still show ads, but Google limits how it uses your information for them, and analytics doesn't store information.
  • Manage options lets you decide purpose by purpose.

The ad appears only after you answer.

If there's no internet connection the first time you open ColoredEye, there's no ad and no message yet. The message appears when you come back to ColoredEye with a connection.

In US states with privacy laws

No message appears when you open ColoredEye. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your information for targeted advertising:

  1. Tap Settings, the gear at the top right of the camera screen.
  2. Under Privacy, tap Privacy Settings.
  3. Choose Don't sell or share my data.

When you opt out, Google limits how it uses your information for ads, and ColoredEye tells Google Analytics for Firebase not to use your information to personalize ads.

Change your choice

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Under Privacy, tap Privacy Settings. Google's message appears again.
  3. Make a new choice. It applies straight away.

Privacy Settings appears only where one of these messages applies. If you don't see it, ColoredEye doesn't need to ask you, and Privacy has just Camera and Photos Access and Privacy Policy.

With Ad Free

Ad Free removes the ads, but the consent message can still appear, and Privacy Settings is still there. That's because Google Analytics for Firebase follows the same choice, whether or not you've bought Ad Free.
