See all the colors in an object
Updated
Many things are more than one color. Object Colors picks out the object you choose, separates it from its background, and lists its main colors, largest first.
List an object's colors
Do any one of these:
- On the live camera, touch and hold the object. ColoredEye freezes the picture and lists the colors of what you held.
- On a frozen picture or a photo, touch and hold the object.
- On a frozen picture or a photo, put the object under the crosshair and tap Object colors. It's the button just after the shutter, where Flip camera is on the live camera: to its right, or below it on an iPhone held sideways.
A sheet opens titled Object Colors. At the top is a one-line summary, for example Mostly Navy, with White and Gray. Below it, each color is listed with its name, its hex value and the share of the object it covers, such as 62%.
With Announce Colors or VoiceOver on, you hear the summary as soon as it's ready. VoiceOver reads each color in the list as its name and share.
Good to know
- The shares are of the part of the object you can see. Shadows and shine can show up as darker or lighter shades of the same color.
- Up to 5 colors are listed. Colors that cover less than 5% of the object, such as edges and glints, are left out.
- Names follow your color set and the Show Basic Color setting.
- If ColoredEye can't pick out a single object there, it lists the colors in the area around the spot instead, and the sheet is titled Colors in This Area.
- If it finds nothing, you see No Colors Found. Touch and hold an object in the picture, or put one under the crosshair, and try again.
To copy a color's hex value, touch and hold its row, then tap Copy followed by the value, for example Copy #1F2A44. To close the sheet, tap Done.
