Turn spoken color names on or off
Updated
ColoredEye can speak color names aloud, so you don't have to read the screen. You choose what it says.
Change what's spoken
- Tap Settings (the gear at the top right of the camera screen).
- Under Speech, turn each switch on or off:
- Announce Colors speaks the color name whenever it changes.
- Announce Camera Flip says which camera you switched to, for example You are now using the camera on the back of your device.
- Announce Camera Light says The camera light is now on or The camera light has been turned off.
- Tap Done.
All three are on unless you've changed them.
What Announce Colors covers
Besides color names, Announce Colors also controls whether these are spoken aloud:
- Compare results, such as Same or Different — much darker.
- Find results, such as Finding Navy. 7 matches.
- White balance confirmations, such as White balance set for this light.
- The low light warning.
- The summary of an object's colors.
When the name has the basic color in brackets, such as Medium Violet Red (Pink), only Medium Violet Red is spoken.
With VoiceOver on
ColoredEye speaks through VoiceOver instead of its own voice. Confirmations of what you just tapped are always announced, even with Announce Colors off, and so are Compare and Find results. Color names are announced only with Announce Colors on. See use ColoredEye with VoiceOver.
