Change your ad and privacy choices

Updated

BusBus shows ads from Google, and uses Google Analytics for Firebase to see how the app is used. Where the law requires it, a message from Google asks what you allow. Your answer covers both the ads and the analytics.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

The first time you open BusBus, Google's consent message appears before any ad loads. You can choose:

  • Consent to allow what the message lists.
  • Do not consent to turn it down.
  • Manage options to choose purposes and partners one at a time.

BusBus works the same whichever you choose, and ads may still appear. Your answer decides how Google and BusBus can use data from your device for ads and analytics.

If you're offline the first time you open BusBus, the message appears once you're back online, or the next time you come back to the app.

In US states with privacy laws

No message appears when you open BusBus. Instead, you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your data and of targeted advertising:

  1. Tap the gear (Settings) at the top right of the Live Map.
  2. Under Privacy, tap Privacy Settings.
  3. Make your choice in Google's message, and save it.

Ads still appear after you opt out, but Google limits how it uses your data for them, and BusBus tells Google Analytics not to use your data for advertising.

Change your choice

Go to Settings › Privacy › Privacy Settings at any time. Google's message opens again, and you can change your answer.

Privacy Settings only appears where Google says you must be able to change your answer, such as the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws. If you don't see it, BusBus doesn't need to ask you anything where you are.

With BusBus Ad Free

iPhone and iPad: if you've bought BusBus Ad Free, Google's consent message still appears where it's required, because it also covers analytics. No ads load either way.

To read how BusBus uses your data, see the BusBus privacy policy, or tap Privacy Policy under Privacy in Settings.
