Follow a bus on the map

Updated

When you tap a bus, BusBus tracks it: a ring appears around the bus, and the map moves with it as new reports come in.

Start and stop following a bus

  • Tap a bus to start following it. Tap a different bus to follow that one instead.
  • While a bus is selected or tracked, a track button appears on the right side of the map, above the two-bus button. It's filled and blue while the bus is tracked, and hollow and gray when it isn't. Tap it to stop or start tracking.
  • On the bus's Trip screen, the button next to Show Route does the same. It reads Tracking while the bus is tracked, and Track when it isn't.

Tracking also stops when you tap a stop, tap Find Me, or tap one of the line buttons down the left of the map (see show only the lines you ride).

Choose what happens when you move the map

By default, dragging, zooming or turning the map stops it from following the bus, so you can look around. The bus keeps its ring. Tap the bus to follow it again.

To have the map always come back to the bus:

  1. Tap the gear (Settings) at the top right of the Live Map.
  2. Under Buses, set Tracking to Keep Bus Centered.

Set it back to Move Map Freely for the default.

See where the bus has been

Bus Trail draws a line behind the tracked or selected bus showing where it's been. It's on by default. To turn it off, go to Settings and turn off Bus Trail under Buses.
