Show only the lines you ride

Updated

The bus filter limits the Live Map and Advisories to the lines you pick. Filter sets let you save groups of lines, like your commute, and switch between them.

Pick your lines

  1. Tap the filter button at the top left of the Live Map or Advisories. It's a round button with three lines in it.
  2. Tap the lines you want. Use Search Lines to find one by name, or tap the circle beside a borough's name to pick all of its lines.
  3. Close the filter. Your choice takes effect when the filter closes.

Android: each borough has a checkbox beside its name instead of a circle.

While a filter is on, the filter button is highlighted, and your lines are listed as buttons down the left of the map. Each one shows how many of its buses are on screen. Tap a line's button to show its whole route.

A line's button can also have a badge beside it:

  • A two-bus badge means buses on that line are bunched somewhere in the city. Tap it to see where.
  • A warning triangle means the line has an advisory in effect. Tap it to read it.

Show every line again

Open the filter and tap All Buses, or tap Show All at the top left of the filter.

Android: Show All is at the top right of the filter.

Save a filter set

  1. Open the filter and pick the lines.
  2. Under Filter Sets, tap Save Selection as Filter Set.
  3. Give it a name, like Commute, and tap Save.

Once you have a filter set, tapping the filter button opens a menu instead. Choose a set, All Buses, or Edit Filter… to change your lines.

Change or delete a filter set

  1. Open the filter.
  2. Tap the info button (an i in a circle) beside the set.
  3. Change its name or lines and tap the checkmark to save, or tap Delete Filter Set.

iPhone and iPad: you can also swipe left on the set and tap Edit or Delete.

On your other devices

  • iPhone and iPad: filter sets sync with iCloud, so they're on your other iPhones and iPads too.
  • Android: filter sets don't sync between devices. They're saved in your Android backup, so they come back when you restore BusBus from a backup or move to a new phone.
